Recycling & Waste Policy

Our Commitment to the Environment
At Altrincham House Clearance, we are deeply committed to minimising the environmental impact of our work. We believe that a house clearance shouldn't just empty a property; it should also be an opportunity to give belongings a second life and to divert waste from landfill.
1. Reuse and Donation
We operate a strict "reuse first" policy. During every clearance, our team carefully sorts through items. Furniture, clothing, books, and household goods that are in good, usable condition are set aside. We work closely with local charities, community groups, and reclamation projects in the Altrincham and South Manchester area to ensure these items are donated to those who need them most.
2. Recycling
Items that cannot be reused are sorted for recycling wherever possible. We separate materials such as wood, metals, cardboard, plastics, and glass. These materials are taken to licensed recycling facilities to be processed and turned into new products, significantly reducing the volume of waste that goes to landfill.
3. Responsible Waste Disposal
Any remaining general waste that cannot be recycled or reused is disposed of responsibly. We only use licensed waste transfer stations and ensure that all disposal is carried out in full compliance with Environment Agency regulations.
4. Hazardous and Specialist Waste
We take our environmental and legal responsibilities seriously. We do not process hazardous waste. Items such as paint, chemicals, asbestos, gas cylinders, and clinical waste require specialist disposal. We will identify these items during the assessment and advise you on how they should be handled separately.
5. Continuous Improvement
We are constantly reviewing our processes to improve our recycling rates. By choosing Altrincham House Clearance, you are not only clearing your property but also making a responsible choice for the local environment.
